Dental Implant Procedure

On the day of your procedure, you’ll be safely sedated by a CRNA while an oral & maxillofacial surgeon places your implants.

It’s important to know who is on your care team and who will be doing the procedure. Because it is an extra expense for a provider to hire a CRNA, some other providers will have patients stay away during the procedure.

Joining us now from NUVIA Dental Implant Center is doctor Jordan Heimer, who's sharing more on new technology that can restore your smile in twenty four hours. Welcome, doctor Heimer. Yeah. Thanks for having me. So when some patients hear that they have to get an implant, I imagine they feel a little skittish. Can you briefly explain how dental implants have traditionally been done and the challenges patients face with that approach? Yeah. So, you know, traditionally, dental implants have been done in one or two ways, especially if a patient needs their whole mouth, you know, teeth replaced like we do. So, generally, the the patient walk into the dentist, you know, they'd have their their teeth removed and the implants placed, and they'd either be put into a set of removable dentures for four to six months or those, you know, a set of flexible acrylic temporaries would be attached to those implants. And once again, that patient would be left to heal for four to six months. And the challenges that that those that those kinda bring up is, one, is teeth weren't made to move. And so you put into a set of dentures and, you know, you're always afraid of, like, hey. Are my teeth gonna fall out? Right? You don't wanna you don't wanna be at work or in a family function and and have your teeth fall out of your your mouth or, you know, with the if they're in a you know, if they're already attached to the implants, those materials can can tend to break. And so they it just it just can lead to a lot of anxiety for for patients, in, you know, in the traditional manner that it's been done. Teeth were not meant to move. I'm gonna put that on a t shirt, sir. Thank you so much. I would have to bring levity to something like this because this could really change the life of someone. And I wonder if you could talk to us about how NUVIA is different than those traditional methods you just mentioned. Yeah. So, you know, at NUVIA Dental Implant Center, we focus and and our goal is is we place patients into a permanent, set of teeth the very next day. So we we skip those temporary phases. And so it takes that that worry of of of a patient's mind of, like, are my teeth gonna you know, are they gonna move and fall out at a family function? Mhmm. Or are they gonna break on me? You know, that that gets the those patients get to put those worries aside, and they you know, the minute that we deliver that that prosthetic for them, they get to go back to their normal life and just just get used to their their brand new smile that we delivered for them. I love that. So I understand each NUVIA patient is treated by three providers. Why is this team approach so important? So I've been doing this this type of dental implant treatment myself for a while now, and I, you know, I did it at one point in time where I did all three. I did the sedation. I did the surgery, and I did the restorative. And that's a lot on a on a provider, and and it can also you know, and so that doesn't always lead to the best outcome. So at Nuvia Dental Implant Center, we are using a CRNA or an anesthesiologist, that person is focusing on that patient's safety while you're having your surgery done. They're, you know, they're solely focused on, okay, keeping that patient safe and comfortable. That allows the surgeon then to to focus on providing the best surgical outcome for that patient. And, you know, the restore this is really a restorative process. So you want a a doc that knows where to put teeth for both function and aesthetics. And so when you combine all three of those that they're re they really get to optimize their skill set, and it really does lead for the best outcome for for each patient. I love that. And let's see this because we have some before and after shots. And I have to say everyone looks fantastic. I mean, look at this. I'm sure there's quite a few viewers who wanna know if in fact this is a painful procedure, what can you tell us? Yes. So, you know, just like we were talking about, you know, we do utilize, you know, CRNA or an anesthesiologist. That way, you know, when a patient comes in for their day of surgery, the only thing they're probably gonna remember is having the IV placed. After that, they're gonna drift off to sleep, and they're not gonna remember a thing. You know, in fact, many of our patients come back the next day, and they're like, man, that was the best nap I've had in a long time and, you know, I I don't remember anything. I like that. How Do Permanent Teeth in 24 Hours Actually Work?

Are you cutting corners? You know, is there some steps that you're you're cutting out? It's not that at all. It's we're using the the updated technology, the advanced surgical skills to make sure that the procedure is well planned out and delivered in the most predictable fashion. How does permanent teeth in twenty four hours actually work? We work closely with a lab that's literally in the same building that our surgery centers are. Our offices, talk to the lab and they're able to take your surgery, do your surgery, and then present it the next day with your final, permanent, beautiful, strong, healthy teeth twenty four hours later. It says you don't have to wait four to six months to get your permanence. So that's how it works. You can have that quality from day one, twenty four hours later, and heal with your permanent final teeth that way. So if because it's faster, are we sacrificing quality? Not at all. In fact, we're improving the quality from day one. Are we cutting corners? Absolutely not. We're just delivering high quality permanent smiles in less time. Think about you break your bone. K? There's nothing on earth that's going to speed up your body's natural process to heal your bones, and we're not doing that either. However, when you get a broken bone, you have to set it correctly for it to heal in the right position and so it functions normally. We don't, at the cellular level, speed that process up. But what we do is you are actually healing with your final permanent, high strength, high quality, good looking teeth from day one. The absence of delivering a temporary prosthesis is not cutting corners, it's actually improving the method. You're not wearing a flimsy prosthetic while you're healing so you have some flex and it can delay healing, it can inadvertently cause implants to fail. So, we don't speed up the body's process. We just make sure that everything is healing in the right positions. You are actually healing with your final permanent, high strength, high quality teeth from day one, and that's how we do it without sacrificing quality. How does the failure rate compare to other surgical procedures? Industry standards for all on x procedures tends to stay in the two to five percent range across the network. And at Nuvia, we're actually happy to report that our failure rate is actually less than two percent. And that has to do with the surgeon training, the prosthodontic training, the lab training, all these specialties coming together to make sure we accomplish the same goal, and we intend to continue to improve that. Think about the advanced technologies that have come into the field of medicine over the last few decades. Right? Other companies are using outdated, slower analog traditional methods. You know, they do work, but why sacrifice your time and efficiency for proven methods that improve your quality of life in a much more advanced and reliable way, and that's what Nubia does. I use advanced technology, we gather materials ahead of time that are gonna be permanently fixated into your mouth. Things that other companies would delay for several months. That's how we do it faster and with high quality, is that we prepare using current advanced technologies to accomplish what would take you before six months, we can do it next day. Is what we do dangerous? You know, from a surgical perspective, which is what I am, I love that we have in house CRNAs with our patients. And what does that do for patients? It gives them peace of mind that there's another provider, a very well qualified provider that is providing anesthesia to our patients that can be there to monitor them throughout the entire procedure while they're sedated. So we have our prosthodontists in house that are communicating with us. We have our surgeons that are highly trained. We We have our CRNAs that are highly trained. And we also have the lab that this is what they do twenty four hours a day. This is all they do. So the communication of having everybody in house makes this actually way less dangerous because everybody knows what each other's doing. If I were somebody that was referring my own parents to this, you know, I wouldn't go anywhere else because of exactly what I've been speaking to. There's no need to go through a prolonged phase of temporary healing when it's been proven that this works. Why put somebody through something you don't need to do? Why why do this twice basically, essentially? With a highly skilled team of experts, surgery, prosthodontics, anesthesia, lab. We want people to know that this is an experience that's gonna be life changing and we want them to know that this is a safe procedure. It's not cutting corners. In fact, you are reducing complications by doing it this way. So hopefully that helps you understand better.
