As she began the process, she had the chance to design the shape and shade of teeth that she wanted. After being sedated under safe general anesthesia during the placement of the dental implants, she was sent home to recover until the following day.

Shirley returned to get her permanent set of teeth installed and she reported that her night after the surgery was great. Everyone responds to surgery differently, but because Shirley already had her teeth removed before the procedure, she only needed dental implants placed. This can sometimes even speed up the recovery process and can allow for little to no pain following the procedure.

Shirley finally saw her brand new smile and loved it! She explained how nice it felt to finally be able to feel the roof of her mouth without plastic blocking it. 

This is a very common and noticeable thing for patients who switch from dentures to full mouth dental implants. The prosthetic does not cover the roof of the mouth like dentures do. There is no suction plate needed for dental implants because the prosthetic is fixed by the dental implants inside of the mouth. This allows for a much smaller device to be inserted relative to dentures, which is one of the reasons so many people find dental implants to be comfortable and natural-feeling.
