Qualifying for Permanent Teeth in One Day - An Emotional Journey
Tricia had a real fear of the dentist, but she wasn’t prepared for the emotional rollercoaster it would be to find out whether or not she was a candidate for permanent teeth in one day.
After taking the online quiz to see if she may be a candidate, Tricia went to her free consultation.
During her consultation, she experienced the high of being told she was a candidate, followed by the sudden heartbreak of learning she wasn’t eligible due to health concerns at the time.
She recalls, “it was a gut punch. Not gonna lie. I left crying”.
Having struggled with her teeth for 30 years, she eagerly looked forward to restoring her smile with dental implants even though she hadn’t had great experiences with dentists in the past. The news that she couldn’t have the procedure was crushing.
Come to find out, that moment ended up saving her life: Six weeks later, Tricia learned she had cancer.
Nuvia’s commitment to her health meant postponing the surgery, prioritizing her safety above everything else.
“Nuvia saved my life because they told me no… What would have happened if I would have had the surgery with cancer? I may not be here”.
Although she didn’t get the news she was hoping for at her consultation, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. That difficult “no” gave Tricia the chance to address her health first,
Eventually, Tricia’s health concerns that prevented her from qualifying were resolved and she was given the green light to get dental implants with permanent teeth in one day.

Pros and Cons of the Permanent Teeth in One Day Procedure
As Tricia thinks back to the dental implant procedure and getting her new teeth, there were some expected and unexpected pros and cons.
What She Liked
Permanent Teeth in 24 Hours: Not only was Tricia excited for a smile transformation that would change her life, she was thrilled to be getting permanent teeth in one day from her dental implant procedure.
After watching her grandmother struggle with dentures, she knew she didn’t want the traditional experience of getting dental implants that includes wearing a temporary set of teeth.
“[Other Providers] said ‘between eight and twelve months. It depends on how it heals or how you're doing and if you like the temporary set, or do you wanna change it’”.
With permanent teeth in one day, Tricia didn’t have to worry about the frustrations that come with temporary teeth or a lengthy and drawn out process to have her smile restored.
“Getting [teeth] within that twenty four hours, I was extremely excited”.
Full mouth dental implants also meant that Tricia wouldn’t ever have to worry about root canals, fillings, or other dental procedures that wouldn’t be a permanent solution for her.
Anesthesia: Local anesthesia, or numbing, didn’t usually work for Tricia so she especially appreciated that Nuvia uses a dedicated CRNA for every procedure. She was able to safely and comfortably sleep through the procedure.
“The night before I talked to the anesthesiologist, we went through everything from my medical background to the medications that I had been on… They made sure everything was in alignment”.
She felt well-prepared and reassured by the attentive pre-surgery care from both her anesthesiologist and surgeon.
Patient and Personalized Care: As Tricia tells her story, it’s clear that Nuvia's team took the time to make sure every detail of the process was right for her. Their careful planning gave her confidence in the procedure and the new smile she was getting.
Now, years later, she still feels connected to those at her Nuvia center. “They're my second family. I've every so often when I'm in the area, I just pop in and just say, hey, guys. And then I pop back out.”
What She didn’t Like
Not Having Teeth That Evening: Tricia had to wait until the next day for her permanent set of teeth, which left her feeling a bit self-conscious the evening of her procedure.
The Temporary Gap: A natural part of the healing process is a small gap that forms between the gums and the teeth as the swelling in the gums goes down. This doesn’t happen to every patient and is taken care of by the Nuvia team at a followup visit.
Tricia comments on the gap saying “That's a weird sensation. People call it a whistling or a gap or what have you. That is normal. That will get fixed.”
Adjusting to Permanent Teeth in One Day
After years of missing and failing teeth, Tricia’s mouth and tongue had to adapt to having a full set of teeth. This isn’t an uncommon experience for patients who have struggled with their teeth for a long time.
She recalls “What was the weirdest thing for me is that once I got both arches, this is gonna sound strange, my tongue didn't know what to do.”
She continues to explain that she had to get used to being able to chew with both sides of her mouth after years of only being able to on one side.
“This is the weirdest sensation because I had not had it all of these years.”
For many patients, like Tricia, the adjustment period is short and she was quickly able to get used to her new teeth.
The Truth About Cost
The cost of dental implants can sometimes be difficult to navigate. Tricia shared this about her experience with various dental implant providers:
“I looked at what [providers] offered, what they didn't offer. Some companies, as I said, it wasn’t an all inclusive. What I loved about Nuvia, it's everything was included. So from your surgery to your arches to anesthesia, everything was all in one.”

The truth is, dental procedures can cost a lot of money. Many patients are all too familiar with how the cost of root canals, fillings, and other dental work can add up; especially if they aren’t successful the first time.
For those with missing and failing teeth, full mouth dental implants are a cost effective, permanent solution.
