Ricky could never have guessed at how getting permanent dental implants would change his life.
Even after months of research, there were still things he learned about getting dental implants and what life would be like after restoring his smile.
Now, 2.5 years since getting his new smile, Ricky sat down to record everything he wished he knew about dental implants. If you have missing or failing teeth, you won’t want to miss this:

What He Didn’t Expect From Permanent Dental Implants
Before getting his permanent dental implants, Ricky says, “What I was expecting was really pain and, scared and anxiety, and I just thought it was just gonna be the worst thing ever.”
Although he knew that a new set of teeth would improve his life in so many ways, he had some daunting expectations of how much the procedure would hurt.
It turns out that he had much more to look forward to than to worry about. Very unexpectedly Ricky discovered that dental implants restored his dental health as well as his overall health.
Ricky was sick for a long time. “I was always sick. I'd gotten cancer in two thousand eighteen and it was, melanoma and they took a big hunk out of me. And, luckily, it hadn't spread to my lymph nodes and stuff, but I never could get well. And they didn't know why I never got well because everything was supposed to be fine”.
It wasn’t until he visited a doctor who asked him if he ever thought maybe the issue was his teeth.
Ricky soon discovered that poor oral health can significantly contribute to poor overall health. With the implants placed, he began to feel a difference almost immediately after the procedure.
“So the next day, I can already tell… I'm not just BS-ing or throwing anything out there. I'm telling you. I could tell my body felt totally different the next day. Just I could tell. And, right then and there, I was like, wow. I'm gonna be a better person”
Ricky’s Q&A on Permanent Dental Implants
The unexpected benefits didn’t stop with his improved health. Ricky answers some of the top asked questions about permanent dental implants as he details more of his experience with Nuvia.
Is Dental Implant Surgery Painful?
Ricky expected pain and was shocked that not only did he sleep through the entire procedure, he didn’t feel a thing. He recalls, “I had zero pain”.
He doesn’t remember much right after the surgery but notes that in the weeks following the surgery there was some discomfort as his mouth healed.
To future patients he says, “So the next two weeks, you may feel some discomfort. You know, your body is changing. Your brain and everything is accepting what was put in your mouth.”
How Fast Can You Get Dental Implants?
Ricky was surprised by the speed of Nuvia’s permanent teeth in 24 hours process, especially after researching seven different places.
In one consultation elsewhere, a representative showed him a denture, explaining how they’d cut part of it, drill holes, and temporarily place it in his mouth before he would eventually get his permanent teeth months down the road.
Ricky recalled thinking, “What’s the difference between that and what Nuvia does?” But after visiting Nuvia, he quickly saw it wasn’t the same. “[Nuvia was] gonna measure my face and everything,” he explained, “and what they were making to go in my mouth was designed for me.”
Nuvia provides patients their permanent teeth 24 hours after the dental implant procedure. Patients don’t wear temporary dentures while waiting for what could be up to 10+ months for their permanent teeth.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
When it came to the cost, Ricky was upfront: “For something that's quality, it's gonna cost you something,” he said.
He continued to explain that the cost will be a little different for each person depending on what they need done - permanent dental implants are not a one size fits all procedure.
Quality, permanent dental implants that are designed to last a lifetime may cost more initially than temporary solutions like dentures but in the long run are extremely cost effective.

Ricky advises others who are thinking about dental implants to think about the value of the results for them. He also points out that there is a cost to NOT getting dental implants.
“[Your teeth] affect your mental, emotional, and physical well-being” These are costs that can come with living with missing or failing teeth.
Do Dental Implants Feel Natural?
Although there was an adjustment period after getting his new teeth, he explains how normal they feel after getting used to them. “I don’t even realize that they didn’t come with me now”.
This temporary adjustment period is normal when patients get their new teeth. The change to a full set of complete and healthy teeth is especially an adjustment for those who have had multiple missing teeth for years.
