Tanya McGowan - CRNA in The Woodlands, TX

Meet Tanya McGowan, Nuvia’s CRNA and anesthesia provider at The Woodlands, TX clinic.

About

Tanya McGowan, CRNA

Tanya McGowan is the CRNA and anesthesia provider at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in The Woodlands, TX. She earned an MBA and worked at AT&T before pursuing anesthesia, going on to complete a master’s in nurse anesthesia at LSU and a doctorate in nurse anesthesia at Texas Wesleyan. She has been practicing in Texas since 2011 and brings 15 years of experience to the team.

Before Nuvia, Tanya spent years providing anesthesia in complex settings—including a Level I trauma center, ambulatory surgery centers, and freestanding endoscopy centers—across orthopedics, spinal surgery, and more. She’s a self-described perpetual student who is always learning, and she brings that same energy to delivering excellent, safe anesthesia in a team environment.

Why Nuvia

Tanya chose Nuvia because of what it delivers: a permanent smile in 24 hours that can genuinely transform a patient’s life. She sees Nuvia as one of the premier full arch implant teams in the world and is proud to be part of it. Her role is to work closely with the oral surgeon and restorative doctor as an in-house anesthesia provider—an independent CRNA working alongside a team of professionals committed to doing this well.

For patients who are nervous, Tanya reassures them that it’s completely normal—and that they’ll be cared for by a vigilant, diligent team focused on comfort and safety.

Outside of the Office

Outside of work, Tanya and her partner David—a geologist—love to travel and explore diverse cultures around the world. They’ve hiked Machu Picchu in Peru, the Annapurna trek in Nepal, and traveled to Tanzania and the Serengeti as well as the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. At home, they share their lives with a full crew of animals: a dog, seven parrots, two turtles, and some frogs.

Other Doctors

Our doctors are not just experts; they are visionaries in the field of dental implantology. With decades of surgical and restorative experience, and a passion for pioneering research, they are at the forefront of innovation.

Dr. Delsaz Sultan

Dr. Delsaz Sultan is the restorative dentist and prosthodontist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in The Woodlands, TX. She earned her dental degree from Boston University in 2013 and completed her prosthodontics residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. She brings 10 years of prosthodontics experience to the team.

Dr. Sultan found that dentistry was the perfect blend of two lifelong loves: biology and science on one side, and art on the other. Her passion for prosthodontics deepened when her father received a full arch reconstruction. Watching the restorative doctor’s work firsthand—and seeing the difference it made in her dad’s life—inspired her to pursue this kind of work herself.

Why Nuvia

Dr. Sultan chose Nuvia for the chance to deliver the final restoration in 24 hours—a service she considers a real game-changer for patients—and for the culture. She describes the team as warm and welcoming, an environment that feels like family and stays truly focused on the patient.

She’s especially passionate about the permanent teeth in 24 hours model. In her 10 years of experience, she has watched patients spend six months in bulky acrylic temporaries that could break at inconvenient times—sometimes forcing emergency visits while she was traveling.

Outside of the Office

Outside of work, Dr. Sultan is a busy mom of three—two boys, nine and seven, and a one-year-old daughter—and they are the joy of her life. When she’s not playing with the kids or shuttling them to games and activities, she loves Pilates, yoga, and Zumba classes. She’s also an avid traveler, with a particular soft spot for Italy—Venice, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast are at the top of her list, and she can’t wait to go back.

Dr. Justin Cortina

Dr. Justin Cortina is the restorative dentist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in The Woodlands, TX. He earned his dental degree from the University of Southern California and completed his three-year prosthodontics residency at Texas A&M School of Dentistry. Originally from just outside Los Angeles, he has been based in Texas for the last four years.

Dr. Cortina’s interest in working with his hands started young—remodeling homes with his father and later working on cars—and grew into a fascination with dentistry after his orthodontist took him under his wing during his teenage years. He’s a detail-oriented provider who loves being able to picture the end result of a case and work carefully back from there.

Why Nuvia

Dr. Cortina joined Nuvia for the chance to focus on full mouth care. He loves rebuilding a patient’s smile, function, and ultimately their confidence—and Nuvia’s model lets him focus on doing exactly that, without splitting his attention across other parts of the practice.

The 24 hour model makes a big difference to him. In the past, patients often left with an acrylic temporary—essentially plastic—that could degrade under normal biting forces and break at inconvenient times. At Nuvia, patients receive a final zirconia set of teeth the very next day. Zirconia is strong, durable, and aesthetic, and Dr. Cortina sees the final-teeth-in-24-hours approach as a real weight off his patients’ shoulders.

Outside of the Office

Outside of work, Dr. Cortina loves hands-on projects. Growing up, he spent weekends remodeling the family home with his dad, and today that same love of building carries over to his cars—he’s currently working on his 2007 Mustang, most recently replacing the entire rear axle.
