Dr. Sean Kim, DDS in Oklahoma City, OK

Dr. William Phillips is the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He earned his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry—now part of the Texas A&M University system—in 1997, and completed his oral surgery training in 2003. He is board-certified and has been practicing as an oral surgeon for more than 20 years.

Dr. Phillips grew up in Denton, Texas, just north of Dallas, and practiced in the Dallas area for most of his career. He was drawn to oral surgery by his uncle, also an oral surgeon, who served as a lifelong mentor and showed him both the breadth of the field and the impact it can have on patients.

Outside of the Office

Outside of work, Dr. Phillips has been married to his wife for 30 years and is the dad of two grown children. He enjoys walking his dog, running—including the occasional marathon—fishing, and riding motorcycles. He’s also a lifelong tinkerer; his current project is restoring a 1960s hi-fi stereo amplifier.

Dr. Emerly Hsu is the restorative dentist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Oklahoma City, OK. She earned her dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and completed her prosthodontics residency in University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Hsu’s initial spark for dentistry was inspired by the dentist who pulled out her wisdom teeth. Despite the stressful procedure, the dentist was thoughtful and took pride in his work.  Her experience volunteering with student-run free dental clinics and onboard USNS Mercy has further solidified her commitment to treat people with empathy and compassion.

WHY NUVIA

Dr. Hsu was drawn to Nuvia’s commitment to patients’ best interest. As a specialist in dental prosthetics, she understands the possibilities and limitations of implant dentistry. She is fond of Nuvia’s transparency and educational approach.

OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE

When not cooped up by the weather, Dr. Hsu likes to explore her new home and learn the rich culture and history of the Sooner State.

He earned his dental degree from Boston University in 2018 and completed a six-year oral surgery residency and medical degree at Emory University in 2024. He also serves as a part-time professor, staying involved in training the next group of surgeons.

He grew up in New York and decided on this path after shadowing an oral surgery team in high school. He saw patients go through jaw surgery and come out on the other side with real changes. That experience stuck and pushed him toward oral surgery.

Dr. Kim chose Nuvia because of the team’s patient obsession and how everything is designed with patient experience in mind. He also values the permanent teeth in 24 hours process. Patients don’t have to deal with long gaps between surgery and final teeth.

Outside of the Office

Outside of work, Dr. Kim enjoys reading and watching history and nature documentaries. He spends time outdoors hiking, running, and kayaking, and likes staying active when he’s not in the clinic.
