Meet Shu Elam, Nuvia’s CRNA and anesthesia provider at the Fremont, CA clinic.

About
Shu Elam is the CRNA and anesthesia provider at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Fremont, CA. Shu earned an undergraduate degree from Colorado with a background in nursing, then completed anesthesia training in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from anesthesia school in 2011 and brings 15 years of experience to the team.
Shu’s path into healthcare started as he was serving others. During undergrad, he ran a host home and adult foster care for people with disabilities—an experience that shaped a deep commitment to looking after others and led to a career built around caring for people in vulnerable moments.
For patients, meeting the person providing their anesthesia can be one of the more nerve-wracking parts of the day. Shu strives to treat each patient as he would if it was a loved one in the same seat.
Shu is proud to be part of Nuvia’s permanent teeth in 24 hours model, where a coordinated team makes a life-changing procedure feel structured, safe, and supportive. He often describes the work as routine but never mundane—never taken for granted, especially knowing many patients arrive with difficult dental experiences behind them. The goal is always to make the day as positive and easy on the patient as possible.
Outside of work, Shu stays active and enjoys cycling three to four days a week, riding motorcycles, and driving fast cars. On quieter days, woodworking is a favorite.

Our doctors are not just experts; they are visionaries in the field of dental implantology. With decades of surgical and restorative experience, and a passion for pioneering research, they are at the forefront of innovation.
Dr. Kevin Furmanek, DDS, MD is the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Fremont, CA.
He earned his dental and surgical training at Columbia University Medical Center, where he developed a strong interest in helping patients restore their health and confidence through surgical care. Dr. Furmanek has been practicing in California for the past five years, performing a wide range of oral surgery procedures with a focus on precision, comfort, and long-term results.
Dr. Furmanek joined Nuvia because he liked how everything here revolves around the patient. From the first visit to the final result, every step is designed to make the process smooth and predictable. He’s especially excited about Nuvia’s ability to give patients permanent teeth in 24 hours, helping people who walk in feeling uncertain to leave smiling again.
Dr. Furmanek wants patients to know he’ll be there from start to finish. He’s steady, focused, and committed to getting great results while keeping people comfortable and informed through every part of surgery.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Furmanek enjoys spending time with his three children. They love cooking together, movie nights, and trips to the skate park. When he’s not with his family, he’s often cycling—both road and mountain—and playing bass guitar or catching live music around the Bay Area.
Dr. Namrata Nayyar is the restorative dentist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Fremont, California. With over a decade of experience, she brings both skill and heart to every case she takes on.
Dr. Nayyar earned her prosthodontics degree in New York and went on to complete an implant fellowship at The Ohio State University. Before joining Nuvia, she practiced in Texas, where she focused on complex restorative and implant cases.
For Dr. Nayyar, dentistry has always been the perfect mix of art and science. Coming from a family of physicians—and with a father who’s a mechanical engineer—she’s always been drawn to work that combines the two.
What stood out to her about Nuvia was its innovation. The ability to deliver permanent teeth in 24 hours isn’t just a new idea—it’s a major shift in how implant dentistry is done. She’s excited to be part of a team that’s pushing the field forward while keeping patient care at the center of everything.
Outside of work, Dr. Nayyar loves traveling with her family and exploring new cultures and cuisines. She and her two young kids enjoy hiking in the Sierra Azul Nature Preserve and other Bay Area trails. When she’s not outdoors, you’ll find her reading, learning, or planning her next adventure.
